What is Andesite in Minecraft?

Andesite is a type of building block found in the Overworld of Minecraft.
Andesite is one of many types of stone in Minecraft. Its beautiful grayish-blue color makes it useful as a decorative block, especially in the polished version, which gives the block a smooth texture.
Andesite is one of the igneous rock types most easily found in mountain biomes. This makes sense because the name Andesite is derived from the Andes mountain range, where you can find plenty of these volcanic rocks.
It can be used as a building material and replace raw materials such as regular stone, diorite, granite, tuff, and deepslate.
You can use the /give command to achieve the andesite quickly unless you’re playing survival mode and haven’t activated cheats.
In Java Edition, the Item ID is andesite (or polished_andesite). In Bedrock, it identifies as stone with the numeric ID 1.
Check out how to make polished granite which makes for a beautiful decorative block also.
How to Obtain Andesite
There are several ways that you can obtain andesite to use to create polished andesite.
The first is by mining for it underground. Like other stone blocks, it is best mined with a pickaxe.
Better pickaxes break the blocks faster. Wooden pickaxes are the slowest at 1.15 seconds, golden is the fastest at 0.2, with netherite in second place at 0.25 seconds.
You can find it in blobs between Y-level 0 – 128, with the highest chances between Y-level 0 – 62.

Each blob can be between 0 – 862 blocks large, so you can find a lot of andesite very quickly when mining.
Note: You can not find andesite in the Stone Shores or Stony Peaks anymore, as andesite strips were removed from these biomes in the 1.18 update.
The second way of getting andesite is by crafting it with one diorite and one cobblestone for two andesite.

If you don’t want to go mining for andesite or diorite, you can also get it by trading with stonemason villagers.
