Minecraft Skyblock Challenges List

When you need a break from vanilla Minecraft, you should give Minecraft Skyblock a go.

What is Skyblock in Minecraft, you ask?

Skyblock is one of the most popular Minecraft game modes. You start on a small floating island in the sky with limited resources. The goal is to survive and thrive by expanding the island, gathering resources, and completing challenges.

To complete challenges, you must be creative and strategic. The Skyblock map has no natural terrain or resources, so there are plenty of challenges to overcome before you have conquered the skies.

Skyblock maps can be found on various Minecraft community websites and played online through multiplayer servers.

The vanilla original Skyblock! can be found here. This is the map the challenges in this article are all about. Here you start on a small survival island with a single tree.

Other famous maps include Hypixels Skyblock, which has more features.

In this blog post, you can see a list of 50 SkyBlock challenges. The end goal is to complete all.

A beginner’s guide to completing the Skyblock survival challenges

The tasks you should prioritize will depend on the type of map you are playing.

If you have grass or flowers, start mining them and try to get at least one seed.

Then, break the dirt on your island, but leave a few grass blocks. Make sure to surround the tree with dirt so that it catches the dropped saplings.

Chop down the tree and create a crafting table and wooden pickaxe. Catch the saplings and replant them.

Check the items in your chest, which usually contain crops like sugar cane, melons, pumpkins, and even some obsidian for a portal.

You may also find turtle eggs, a bucket of lava, and ice on some maps.

1. Create a Cobblestone Generator.

To make a cobblestone generator, you must dig a one-block-deep T-shaped hole.

Put a block in the center, water, and lava on the other two slots. Break the center block, get in the last slot, and break the cobblestone that forms.

Make sure that the blocks surrounding the lava are not flammable, or they will burn. Gather as much cobblestone as possible and make a complete set of stone tools.

2. Find Food and Shelter

Build a small shelter from wood or cobblestone to protect yourself from phantoms and other monsters.

Plant crops around the water at your cobblestone generator if you start with crops. Over the next couple of days, gather as much wood and cobblestone as possible.

You can also get apples for food if you have an oak tree.

If you started with a melon, make melon seeds and plant them.

If you get a melon block, you can break it for melons, which you can eat.

3. Take advantage of Hostile Mobs with a Mob Farm

Hostile mob farms are essential because they provide bones, strings, redstone dust, iron ingots, potatoes, and carrots, among other things.

Building a mob farm (aka mob trap) is mandatory to start crop farming. It is also an abundant source of rotten flesh, which you can eat instead of apples.

You can find several mob farm designs on the page Tutorials/Mob farm, but most efficient designs require water or redstone circuits.

If you see a spider, killing it for the string will allow you to craft a fishing rod, which can be used in the water from your cobblestone generator to obtain early-game fish as food.

Use water for Irrigation and Transportation.

Check out how to build a water elevator in vanilla Minecraft.

Water is beneficial in Skyblock for many purposes, including irrigation and saving yourself from death.

You can create flowing water by breaking an ice block by hand.

To create an infinite water source, use two sources of water and dig a 2×2 hole one block deep. Place two water sources in opposite corners, and the merging flows will create new water source blocks.

Use a bucket on any of the now-four water blocks, and the removed water will be replaced by a new water source block when the flows merge.

Another option is placing a cauldron below the open sky and waiting for rain, which will very slowly fill the cauldron with water.

Cure zombie villagers

Getting villagers is crucial for your progression, as it is the only way to get emeralds, diamond tools, armor, and enchanted books.

To get villagers, you must cure zombie villagers, which sometimes spawn in mob farms.

To cure zombie villagers, you will need to give them the Weakness status effect and then use a golden apple on them.

You must get a brewing stand, fermented spider eye, and gunpowder to make your potion.

It is also strongly advised to build a villager breeder as soon as possible to avoid doing this tedious process multiple times.

Build Iron Farms

Iron farms are very useful in Skyblock because they allow easier access to iron ingots.

To make the smallest possible iron farm, you will need three villagers, three beds, and a zombie holding an item.

When your need for iron gets larger, you can make multiple copies of the farm or build a larger design.

The Nether and the Ender Dragon

If you have access to the Nether, you can also explore five different biomes, each with unique properties that are interesting in a Skyblock context.

In Closing

I hope this will get you started with Minecraft Skyblock. The list of challenges is a great way to quickly learn the ins and outs of this famous Minecraft mod.

When you’re finished, you can always create your own challenges and share them online or advance to something like Hypixel Skyblocks.

Good luck on your floating island.

Until next time, happy gaming!
