While it may seem odd to consider enchanting a stick in Minecraft, it can sometimes serve a purpose.

This is especially true for Minecraft servers, where you want sticks to have specific attributes for one reason or another.

Keep reading to learn how to enchant a stick in Minecraft and all the different enchantments you can use.

One of the most common enchantments placed on a stick is the Knockback enchantment. It won’t deal much damage, but it’ll shock them—nothing like hitting an enemy with a bonk stick and sending them flying away from you.

Note: You cannot enchant sticks on Bedrock Edition. The only “enchanted” stick available on Bedrock is a debug stick which allows you to edit the block states of various blocks within your Minecraft world.

In Minecraft Java Edition, you can enchant sticks with numerous enchantments, but you don’t use the enchanting table, saving you lapis lazuli and experience points.

Instead, you have to use cheats, which means if you are in a single-player world, you will need to enable cheats when creating the world.

You can also turn on cheats by turning on LAN if you forgot during the world-creation process.

Follow the steps below to enchant a stick in Minecraft:

  1. Have an open hand ready to receive the enchanted stick in your hotbar.
  2. Open your console line by pressing “/.”
  3. Paste the following command into the chat window /give @p minecraft:stick{Enchantments:[{id:”minecraft:knockback”,lvl:1}]} 1

There is nothing as fun as beating hostile mobs with wooden sticks that have insane levels of knockback.

You can put any number you want for the level, though the max is Level 255.

While many people want to have a Knockback 1000 stick, that is simply impossible with the limitations of Minecraft.

What Does the Knockback Enchantment Do?

The Knockback enchantment increases the number of blocks a mob is pushed back when hit.

It usually only has two enchantment levels and can only be applied to swords or axes.

With cheats, though, you can apply it to anything, including sticks.

All Enchantments You Can Enchant Sticks With

Besides the Knockback enchantment, you can enchant sticks with nearly any enchantment Minecraft offers. They must all be placed on the stick via the same command as Knockback.

All you do is replace “minecraft:knockback” with the name of the enchantment you want the stick to have and press ENTER.

FAQ

Can You Use Enchanted Sticks To Make Items?

You can use enchanted sticks to create items in Minecraft, but unfortunately, the enchantments are lost.

So if you want an item that normally cannot be enchanted, you will need to use cheats.

Can You Still Use Command Blocks To Enchant Sticks?

Yes, command blocks can still enchant sticks and other items in Minecraft. You must use the following command to give yourself a command block: /give @p command_block.

It should be noted that you cannot get command blocks from the Creative Mode inventory.

Once you have the command block, place it down, interact with it, and type in whatever command you want executed into its GUI.

After that, send it a redstone signal via a button, lever, or other method. The command will then be executed once per redstone tick.
