What’s the Purpose of the Blank Name in Among Us?

The purpose of having a blank name is to try to gain a competitive advantage. You can render yourself virtually invisible in certain instances.

You’ll also be harder to spot when you have a dot name. This is why the ability to do this is being patched out since it’s an unintended exploit that can give players a minor advantage during gameplay.

Understanding How to Get a Dot Name

Understanding how to get a dot name in Among Us isn’t that hard overall. It should be noted that you can only do this in the mobile versions of the game at the moment.

It isn’t possible in the PC version of the title. This might be patched out entirely soon, too, but it’s still working as of the time of this writing.

To start, you need to copy a simple dot. The type of dot you want to copy is a period such as “.”

Once you’ve copied the dot, you’ll be able to paste it into the name field in Among Us. The name field should be located at the top of the screen.

Delete the current name and then choose to paste so you can place the dot instead. After this, you tap the checkmark or some OK button.

Create a game or join a game to see that you will now have a name that is a simple dot. This might make it easier to hide since your dot name won’t stand out very much. It’s an interesting little trick.

Some people like to do this to take screenshots and do other such things.

This Used to Be a Glitch

There used to be a glitch that you could perform in Among Us that would make you mostly invisible.

It has since been patched out of online games due to giving players that knew about the glitch an unfair advantage.

You can still perform a similar trick, but it’s not so much an invisible name anymore. It’s probably better to refer to it as a dot name since that’s more accurate.

You Can Still Use Invisible Names in Local Play

It’s still possible to use invisible names when playing local matches. If you wish to do this, you can use a similar method described above.

Instead of copying a dot, you’ll be copying a blank space, such as the space between two quotations marks like this: “ ”

Once you’ve copied a blank space, you need to paste the blank space into the name field. You go through the motions as described in the dot name section.

Congratulations, you now know how to get an invisible name in Among Us. Since this won’t work in online games, you’ll only be able to use it to gain an advantage against friends while playing local games.

Does This Work on Console?

As of now, this doesn’t appear to work on console versions of the game. You can’t copy and paste things when playing games on a console.

Therefore, the methods utilized in this trick won’t be possible. There won’t be a blank space or a dot to paste into the name field, and you don’t appear to be able to leave the name field blank either.

Summary: How to get a blank name in Among Us.

Among Us has been patched, so you can no longer use an invisible name when cross-playing online. You can still use a blank name in local play, though. If you’re playing Among Us online, the best way to turn almost invisible is to use a dot, i.e., a “.”, which you’ll have to copy-paste to your character name. You can’t use an invisible name or a dot on the console.
